Community Journalist
ABC7 Eyewitness News

Ashley Mackey is a Community Journalist for ABC7 Eyewitness News. She joined the team in August 2019 after reporting and anchoring in Phoenix, Arizona, for Cronkite News on Arizona PBS. Ashley earned her master’s degree in sports journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Montana. At Montana, she studied on a full-ride tennis scholarship, and when she graduated from there, she traveled the world playing professional tennis for two years.

Ashley worked as a News21 fellow on the “Hate In America” project, which garnered awards such as a Robert F. Kennedy Award, an Edward R. Murrow award, a BEA award and an EPPY award. She also interned at the United States Tennis Association. Ashley is excited to be back and reporting on Inglewood, the city where she was born. She serves her community alongside her sorority members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Inc.

Global Creative Advertising Executive
Universal Pictures

Lauri Brown is a Global Creative Advertising Executive in Marketing at Universal Pictures. She has had the privilege of working on the creative campaigns for a variety of films, including the Academy Award winning GREEN BOOK, QUEEN & SLIM, SHE SAID, TICKET TO PARADISE, and the upcoming RENFIELD and OPPENHEIMER.

In her prior roles as agency Creative Director, she led Trailer and TV campaigns for films such as INCEPTION, SULLY, DUNKIRK, and THE HOBBIT, to name a few. She has been honored to have her work win several Clio and Key Art Awards, including Best In Show for her work on THE DARK KNIGHT.

Since 2018, Lauri has been a proud member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She has been privileged to help promote and recognize the work of emerging young filmmakers through her participation on the Student Academy Awards Executive Committee. Lauri’s commitment to mentoring is demonstrated in her other volunteer work, having been an Academy Gold mentor and an Executive Advisor for Soapbox for several years.

One of Lauri’s proudest achievements is being co-founder and President of the non-profit organization The Creative Coalition of Color (CCC), whose mission is to connect underrepresented and diverse candidates with career opportunities in the Film Marketing and Creative Advertising industry. From their partnerships, outreach efforts and initiatives, CCC has enabled successful candidate placements, as well as interns transitioning into full-time roles.

Lauri celebrates these achievements and remains committed to CCC’s greater mission of creating more inclusivity in the industry.

Kathryn Frazier, deemed “the rockstar whisperer” by The Guardian is an ICF Certified Life Coach, and CEO/founder of the revered PR company, Biz 3. Kathryn founded Biz over 27 years ago with just a desk in a borrowed closet in a Chicago bar while also working full time as a restaurant server. Now, Biz 3 operates nationwide with a staff of national publicists, and over 200 clients ranging from popular musicians like The Weeknd, Lil Baby & Lauryn Hill to sports, tech, restaurants, and more.

Frazier is known for being selective with projects, only taking on campaigns that she deeply believes in. Biz 3 has a reputation for breaking unknown artists and helping them become critical darlings. In 2011, Frazier co-founded OWSLA, an independent record label, with Skrillex. Kathryn has also become a certified life coach, using powerful questioning to help people get to the best versions of themselves and their careers. She has decades of experience in the business world and in personal development, making her coaching services valuable to both personal and executive clients. She has worked with clients from all walks of life, including CEOs, college students, musicians, and tradespeople.

She is ICF certified in Coaching and is currently expanding her expertise in addiction/recovery coaching and relationship coaching. Frazier’s future plans include a podcast series and putting out her first book on Co-Parenting which is in its final edit currently. She is currently on the board for the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC).
