Every child has his or her own unique voice, and finding ways of drawing out that personality and giving them space to blossom is what A Place Called Home is all about. In addition to music, dance and digital media training, we offer a comprehensive set of courses and workshops in fine arts, including:
- Textiles & Sewing
- Fashion Design
- Comic Book Production
- Arts & Crafts
- and much more!
APCH youth create their own comic books, learn to use alternative and recycled media to produce cutting-edge artwork, and apply their creativity using everyday objects.
How do you think we costume our performers? Our sewing and needlecraft classes teach children to produce their own costumes, usually through the use of thrift, donated, or found clothing, fabrics, and materials.
In 2011, we began a social enterprise project that includes design and silk screening of original T-shirts, cards, scarves, and tote bags. Check out our store and our Gallery!
Throughout our Fine Arts program, youth are encouraged and supported to explore diverse genres and methods, while building creative talents and skills they can use for years and decades into the future. Whether or not APCH members choose to pursue the arts or another profession, their creative minds have been activated and they will always have access to the power of imagination!
