One Way To Give Thanks, Is To Give Back

Are you ready for a big turkey or Tofurkey dinner next Thursday? We know we are. Oh, and don’t forget the gravy, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie! These are all essentials, at least on our Thanksgiving table.

We have so much to be thankful for.

Unfortunately, too many families in South Central Los Angeles lack the resources to have a Thanksgiving feast. It’s hard for a mom or dad to celebrate when they know their kids’ stomachs will be growling all day long.

This is absolutely not okay with us.

Feasting Together

A Place Called Home is a family, and it gets bigger every year. Our family includes our 700 members, their families, our donors, volunteers, and staff, and everyone else in the neighborhood is welcome, too! Families celebrate together. That’s why we’ll be hosting a feast on the day before Thanksgiving and providing take-home dinners and groceries for the next day.

The aroma of Thanksgiving dinner and the sounds of laughter and celebration will greet more than 1,000 guests as they enter our doors. They’ll be welcomed with smiles and hugs from their APCH family. And many of them will have a great meal and then volunteer to help the next guests.

This is how Thanksgiving should be celebrated!

Our Thanksgiving Community Feast reflects the mission of APCH — it’s a place to grow, get stronger, and give back to the community. More than 1,000 people will have a delicious fresh meal, connect with neighbors, and make new friends.

Thanksgiving at A Place Called Home creates community, too

For some guests, this Thanksgiving meal will be their first time visiting APCH. They’ll meet kids who are taking music lessons for the first time and others who are in college on one of our scholarships — opportunities they’ve only dreamed of for their own children! And, they’ll be back.

For some, including community members without stable homes, what they receive at our tables might be the only hot meal of the week. They will be surrounded by kindness and respect from their neighbors and community volunteers who’ve come to express their gratitude by giving back. All will be welcome.

It’s Not Too Late To Pitch In

We’d love to have you participate in our feast. We still need people to donate funds to make this meal possible. Your gift of $50 will serve a whole family. In fact, it will do more than that. It will give them a meaningful Thanksgiving experience with extended family — a day they will not soon forget.

Please show your gratitude by making a generous donation today.
