For 33 years, A Place Called Home has been doing something quietly remarkable in one of Los Angeles’ most underserved communities — turning kids who have every reason to fail into young people with every reason to succeed.

Con el alto costo de la vida, entre otras cosas, con las que tantas familias latinas tienen que lidiar hoy en día, inscribir a los niños a clases y actividades especiales muchas veces no entra en el presupuesto. Pero existe un lugar en el sur centro de Los Ángeles, llamado “A Place Called Home” (APCH), que no cobra un centavo a las familias que inscriben a sus hijos.

LOS ANGELES — For over 30 years, A Place Called Home has been supporting the youth of South Central Los Angeles.
From after-school programming and services to helping fight food insecurity for families in need, the mission is to help support kids and teens through their development.

I didn’t grow up imagining I’d be a CEO one day. In fact, I didn’t grow up seeing women, especially Latinas, leading organizations at all.

Community engagement was always a big part of Ann Holland Stacy’s family. As the senior manager of volunteerism at A Place Called Home, she gets to help facilitate that for herself and others.
